Our goal is to:

build and nurture collaborative relationships with adults, youth, families, schools,
-
partner with churches and other community institutions.

initiate organizing, outreach, educational and artistic strategies and actions.
-
work to improve greater self and group sufficiency and leadership skills to generate personal and social change.

WHY CARE ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE?
It can happen to anyone regardless of their age, race, gender, education, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, physical ability, status of money. It happens most often to women. A woman is abused every nine seconds in this country. A child who grows up in a violent home is more likely to abuse others or to become a victim as an adult. Approximately one in five female high school students report being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner. It is a CRIME.
Healing Waters believe every member of our community has a voice, a role and responsibility to promote a safe and healthy environment. To join us, schedule performances, forums, trainings or for further information please contact:

Healing Waters: “I Will Carry My Sister’s Pain”
A moving performance with the power to heal....speaks to the pain as well as the victory of surviving domestic violence, highlighting the stories or actual survivors who have "been there" and now feel it is time to help others through the power of their testimonies.
People are saying. . . . .
“The performance was beautiful, sad and fulfilling. I knew for sure, the moment each woman spoke, that I am not alone and had never been.”
Domestic Violence Survivor
“This is a powerful teaching tool for our young girls who have not experienced abuse. It will give them strength to NOT TAKE IT and to know it’s not just okay to walk away the first time, but it will also give them the strength to know that walking away is the ONLY thing to do.”
Dr. Kim Armstrong, Black Hawk College
“Healing Waters is a wonderful example of the power of personal testimony. Healing Waters is moving, inspirational, hopeful and most of all celebrative. For it captures the essence of turning obstacles into opportunities, and stumbling blocks into stepping-stones. This is a must see!”
Rev. Jarrod Parker,
Greater Antioch Baptist Church
“I would first describe the Healing Waters Empowerment trainings with one word - “womanhood.” Women sharing their fears, triumphs and goals. We can overcome and achieve greatness through each others stories and prayers.”
Rhavon
“The Empowerment meetings are beneficial because we are able to deal with a lot of issues that need to be addressed.”
Sarah
“I would invite women to attend the Empowerment meetings one time, and I guarantee that when they leave they will take something with them, and they will be back”
Kirstie
