History:

Polyrhythms began as unifying effort of groups representing a loose confederation of community-based grass roots cultural arts purveyors determined to keep alive those artistic achievements and activities that contribute to the intellectual and mystical strength of our community. This group of arts organizations committed to a cultural vision resulted in the formation of Polyrhythms which merged with the Quad Cities Jazz Festival LTD., (formerly the Louis Bellson Jazz Festival LTD.) in order to more effectively advance its efforts.

Quad Cities Jazz Festival LTD., the parent organization, focuses on projects that utilize the arts as a gateway to teaching cultural, technical and life skills focusing on the youth of underserved neighborhoods, but easily accessible to all communities.

Polyrhythms views its organization not so much as promoters but area curators and historians of the arts and is committed to providing additional opportunities for all to explore, learn and perform traditional as well as non-traditional folkways and art forms.
